From the majestic peaks to the fertile lowlands, South America's tropical forests play an indispensable role in providing sustenance, shelter, and livelihoods for countless individuals.

South America, with its vast expanse and geographical variety, stands as a testament to the wondrous tapestry of ecosystems that adorn its landscapes.

Economic Opportunities in South America's Forestry Sector

In the diverse and ecologically rich continent of South America, the forestry sector stands as a crucial pillar of economic development and sustainability. The vast expanse of forests in this region harbors not only biodiversity but also immense economic potential.

In the vast tapestry of South American rainforests, the Amazon often steals the spotlight with its grandeur. However, there exists a hidden gem, the Atlantic Forest, equally deserving of admiration and protection. Like the Amazon, the Atlantic Forest is a sanctuary of unique biodiversity and serves as a vital lifeline for both nature and humanity. Regrettably, it shares another similarity with the Amazon – it's under dire threat and urgently requires our intervention.

Stretching along the eastern coast of Brazil and extending inland into Argentina and Paraguay, the Atlantic Forest comprises a mosaic of ecosystems that envelops major urban centers like Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. It's home to approximately 150 million people and plays a pivotal role in driving Brazil's economy, contributing a substantial 70% to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The Atlantic Forest isn't just economically significant; it's a biological wonderland. This richly diverse region is home to an array of iconic species that includes jaguars, sloths, tamarins, and toucans. What's more astonishing is that just a single hectare of the Atlantic Forest can support an astounding 450 species of trees. This unique forest houses seven percent of the world's plant species and five percent of the world's vertebrate animal species, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth.

Despite its ecological significance, the Atlantic Forest faces grave threats. Over the past five centuries, human activities have left their mark on this precious ecosystem. Infrastructure development, the expansion of agriculture, and vast tree plantations have reshaped the landscape. Today, only a mere 12% of the original Atlantic Forest in Brazil remains, and much of it exists in isolated, fragmented patches.

Addressing Deforestation and Combatting Illegal Logging in South America: A Call to Action

Deforestation, the alarming process of natural forest loss driven by human activities, is an issue of grave concern in South America. Artificial turf is considered the best solution for lush green, maintenance-free lawn. Unlike natural grass that requires regular mowing, synthetic grass frees you from this job.

Are you interested to install synthetic turf on your yard? It is often used in sport arenas like stadium and football field, but it’s also installed in public places like amusement parks. Over time, people also use this kind of grass on residential lawn.

Faux grass has green blades consisting of polyethylene material, a form of plastic commonly used in plastic bags and bottles. Polyethylene is heated along with UV resistant additives and artificial coloring to make it look like living grass.

Types of Artificial Turf

Based on the material, there are three types of synthetic grass: polyethylene, nylon, and polypropylene. Each type comes with different characteristics. Before you make a decision, it becomes essential to take a closer look at each of them. So you can determine which one of these types of artificial grass is right for your needs.

1. Polyethylene Articial Grass

Polyethylene is the most popular among homeowners. This type of artificial turf not only looks natural with green colors but it also has lots of textures. It also feels soft and cozy when you’re stepping on it, making it a great option if you live with kids and pets. Not to mention it offers a good drainage.

Compared to other types of faux grass, this material is rather expensive. If your budget allows you to spend more money, polyethylene artificial turf is worth purchasing. Depending on the brand, its price range between $2.55 to $5.00 per square foot.

2. Polypropylene Artificial Grass

If you have a tight budget then polypropylene can be your best option. This type of faux grass is ideal for business in that it is available in a variety of styles. With plenty of choices on the market, feel free to pick a surface that matches other elements.

However, polypropylene grass isn’t suitable for outdoor use. It isn’t very durable and it has a low melting point, which means it’s more prone to damage. When it comes to price, polypropylene falls somewhere between $1.90 to $5.75 per square foot.

3. Nylon Artificial Grass

If you’re concerned about durability then nylon is your best choice. Nylon artificial grass is able to withstand extreme temperatures as well as excessive weight, while keeping its good shape. That’s why it becomes everyone’s favorite, either for private residence or commercial area.

Despite its durability, nylon isn’t ideal for a large area. One of the main reasons is that nylon turf is relatively pricey, not to mention the pile can be very stiff. Depending on the products, the price of nylon synthetic grass ranges from $5.05 to $5.83 per square foot.

Pros and Cons of Artificial Grass

Artificial turf is incredibly amazing for it can turn your dirt lawn into a lush green area. However, they have a few drawbacks that are worth considering. Take a closer look at the following pros and cons before having one.

Synthetic grass pros:

Look green all year long

No cutting or mowing

No pesticides

No watering

No patchy spots

Easy to install

Synthetic grass cons:

Can be costly

Need replacement after few years

Require maintenance to sweep dust buildup

Small elements can be harmful

How to Install Artificial Grass on Dirt

Installing artificial turf requires several steps: pre-installation, area preparation, lay the base, and synthetic grass attachment. Here’s the detailed information about artificial grass installation on dirt.

1. Pre-installation

The very first step to install an artificial turf is check for potential hazards. You may find water pipes or electrical lines under the surface. It’s important to protect these installations so they won’t get damaged when you try to secure the edge of synthetic grass.

2. Area Preparation

Preparing the area includes getting rid of weeds, removing the top layer of soil, and plan the drainage. If you have an issue with gophers, installing a gopher wire becomes necessary. This will keep gophers out of side.

3. Lay the Base

The next step is laying your base. You can choose from stone, crushed rock, gravel, or decomposed granite. Atop the first base, spread sharp sand about 10 to 15mm to make the first base firmer. Sprinkle the area with water and compact the stones.

4. Grass Attachment

Now that everything is ready, attach your artificial turf. Roll the turf outside and roll it back in. Seam the surface together and apply pressure. It’s also necessary to cut unwanted turf edges.

Installing artificial grass on your lawn can be the best solution to decorate your outdoor settings. With so many options out there, you can pick the right type of synthetic grass that meets your needs and budgets.

How to Maintain and Clean Artificial Grass

By choosing artificial grass to beautify your lawn and garden, you still need to keep clean these faux grass. Moreover, if you have pets, you’ll need to maintain and clean regularly your turf and artificial grass more often.

You should rinse the artificial grass by using a garden hose every so often, at least once a week. If you have a lot of synthetic grass, a battery-powered hand held leaf blower should be fine.

For your artificial grass to look its best, brush or rake the grass regularly in the opposite direction of the artificial fibre by using a large broom or brush that has plastic, synthetic bristles. This will prevent the garden from getting flattened and keep the blades in the upright position.

How Long Does Artificial Turf Last?

These artificial grasses are not long-lived materials.

The first factor that can be damaged is the more you use it, so the more wear it will experience.

The solution for this issue is you can prolong the life of your artificial turf by repairing and maintenance. As long as you take care of your faux turf, it can last for years, even up to 15 years.

This means the answer to how long does artificial grass last, can range from 7 to 15 years. For instance, if you use it on a swimming pool or football field, it won’t last as long as it will in your lawn because the difference of wearing and maintenance will be as well.

How Much Does It Cost to Install Artificial Grass?

The cost to install artificial grass is varying. Of course, the price will depend on the size of your project, types of artificial grass, and any related prep work that’s required.

Different installers and manufacturers offer varying degrees of quality, which can play a big role in the cost to install it.

They calculate and charge at a price per square foot, and for an average price of $13 or even more. If you compare it with grass sod, then it is extremely expensive because the grass only costs about $1 per square foot on average. However, you have to prepare for the cost and amount of time to maintain your new grass, which is much higher than artificial grass.
Muzaki Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07717184024096976148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728082008190634818.post-72293025295909673242021-09-12T17:39:00.000-07:002021-09-12T17:39:22.790-07:00Food and Beverage Definition, Types, Careers, and Management
Food and Beverage or F&B is a crucial department. As electricity source is limited and the use of it cause adverse effects to the earth. People currently move into alternative energy sources which is more natural.

Taking benefit of the sun as an energy source, people start to use this solar energy device in their homes to support their daily activities. This helps people to reduce their electricity consumption. People also use this device to operate public facilities such as traffic lights.

Getting to Know about Solar Cell

Since this device is not currently widely used, perhaps some people don’t know about it and its function. That’s why it is important to know about what this device is, how it works, and how to make it so it can ease your daily activities.

What is Solar Cell?

Solar cell refers to a device that can convert light energy from the sun into electrical energy. This converting process is called a photovoltaic effect which makes people also call it a photovoltaic cell. Most solar cells use silicon as their main material which increases its efficiency and reduces the making cost.

Different from both fuel cells and batteries, this device doesn’t include any chemical reactions or fuel to generate electric power. It also doesn’t feature moving parts like what we usually find in electric generators.

People often arrange this device in large groupings which are popularly called arrays. Arrays consist of thousands of single cells which serve as a central electric power station. Then, it works by changing sunlight into electrical energy and distribute it for residential, commercial, and industrial uses.

It might come in a smaller configuration as well and use by many people on their rooftop to substitute the use of conventional electric supply. People often call this a small configuration for residential use, solar panels.

It serves as alternative power sources in remote locations where an electric power source is not available to support their daily activities. Many consumer products also use solar cells including electronic toys and portable radios.

What is the Difference between Solar Cell and Solar Panel?

Solar cells and solar panels are both integral and closely related parts of a solar energy system. Solar cell is the smallest functional unit or building block of electrical generator which produce electricity by utilizing solar energy as its input energy while solar panel contains the components of solar cells which turn these electrical energy directly from solar energy through photovoltaic effect into usable power.

How does It work?

In order to work, you just simply place it in the area that gets direct exposure to sunlight. As the cells receiving sunlight, it allows light particles to expel electrons from the atoms and producing electricity flow. Solar panels encompass numerous smaller units, namely photovoltaic cells.

A photovoltaic cell is formed by double slices of semiconducting materials, most likely silicon. This material is similar to use in microelectronics. During the converting energy process, photovoltaic cells will build an electric field which happens as two opposite charges are not together.

To establish this field, manufacturers often support silicon with other materials which act as positive and negative charges. Precisely, the top layer of silicon uses phosphorus to add the number of electrons. On the other hand, the bottom layer uses boron that produces fewer electrons.

Phosphorus acts as a negative charge while boron is a positive charge. Both establish an electric field at the junction in the middle of silicon layers. When the light particle sets the electrons free, the electric field will shove the electron away from the silicon junction.

The other component in the solar cell transforms these electrons into usable power. On both sides of the cell, there are metal conductive plates that can collect electrons and distribute them to wires. It enables the electrons to flow like other sources of electricity.

Solar power technology is currently used to make other devices for various uses such as solar thermal. It not only uses the power of sunlight to form electricity but also to heat either water or air.

How to Make Solar Panel

You can make simple solar cell at home from the copper sheet and salt water to produce a photoelectric effect. Hold a flaming propane torch and use another hand to hold the copper sheet with a tong. Move the copper sheet into the flame to heat the copper.

Do this process until the part underneath the flame turns into red color for a few minutes. Put the copper sheet in a fireproof place. Use tong again to put other areas of copper sheet into flame. Then, let it cool.

Prepare the wiring at each end of the copper sheet. Use a copper wire and clamp it to the end of the copper sheet with an alligator clip. Choose the clean area of copper sheet to attach the wire.

Add salt into a cup of water and wait until it doesn’t dissolve anymore. Put a few drops of salt water into various flamed areas in the copper sheer because they will present different results.

Then, wire one end of the flamed copper sheet which has been dropped with salt mixture. This simple solar energy device now is ready to use.

Understanding the solar cell and how it works helps you to know the principles of making this device. Hence, you can make simple solar panels at home for alternative use.

Muzaki Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07717184024096976148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728082008190634818.post-30698208749546109502021-08-29T19:07:00.002-07:002021-08-30T23:55:44.811-07:00How to Analyze Sales Growth and Improve It
Sales growth is an important part of the business as it helps you to know whether your business continuously grows or goes stagnant. Monitoring the progress of your business helps you to know what already runs well and what needs to improve and it can be done by calculating the sales.

Learn about what sales growth is to know what you need to do if you got unexpected results from the calculation to make your business remains survive.

Definition of Sales Growth

Sales growth refers to the percentage of business growth in the net sales within a fiscal period to another. Net sales are defined as the whole sales income fewer returns, discounts, and allowance. It is common for business owners to compare the previous period producing lower sales to the recent one with higher sales.

Most likely, two periods are available in a corresponding length. For instance, people are unlikely to compare the net sales from a quarter of one fiscal year to the full year from another period. Alternatively, the comparison is made on two sequential fiscal years.

Types of Sales Growth

Companies might use different types of sales from one another. They will choose based on the business nature and industry. Here are several types that are commonly used by companies.

Month on Month

This method calculates the growth value of each business month. By using the earlier month as a base, you can calculate the percent growth. It helps the company to decide the quick steps in shifting the strategies if something goes put off track.

Quarterly Growth

The growth calculation happens once every three months. To know the year's growth, you can use the data obtained from the four quarters. It compares the results from the current quarter with the same quarter last year. Conducting this calculation provides you with a clear idea of how the full year will transform into.

Half-yearly Growth

Numerous multinationals use half-yearly growth calculation to compare the sales from the previous to the recent years. The result showing achievement more than half target indicates that the business is still on the right track.

Annual Growth

Annual growth calculation includes the comparison of previous year to newer year. To know the direction of the company, the comparison is made among multiple years. The results are beneficial to check if the growth keeps stick to the vision and mission which affect the financial stability of the company.

Good Growth in Sales

Good growth in sales is the condition where the growth sales can reach a certain percentage. The growth rate results are affected by the industry where the business runs and company size. Sales growth is considered good for large companies if it can reach between 5 to 10 percent.

Meanwhile, for mid-scaled and small-scaled companies achieving 10 percent on growth can put it under the good category. A good growth rate is such a goal that business owners and stakeholders need to turn out to be.

The good results can vary from year to year. You can consider the past performance, economic, and competitor achievements along with the sales results to bring your business into a major success.

How to Analyze It

To analyze the growth, you need to calculate the sales first. Begin by subtracting the net sales of the previous period from the recent period. Next, you need to divide the result with the net sales from the previous period. Multiply the result by 100 to obtain the percentage of the growth.

Analyzing the growth of the business through its sales can be beneficial for financial and budgeting. The result of growth analysis is a key metric for your business so that you need to monitor it regularly. The best way to monitor the metric is during an extended period.

It helps you to obtain clear insights into the growth trends and how to normalize the value. This is truly useful if you want to conduct monthly or quarterly methods for the revenue.

Growth Strategies for the Business

There are several top growth strategies that you can do to develop your business. Using these strategies helps you to boost sales growth as well.

Market Penetration

Doing market penetration can increase market share for the previous products. It can be used to promote new products too. This process includes advertising, beautifying products, packaging, and discounts.

Market Development

This refers to promote the previous products or services to the new customers. Otherwise, you can launch products in different locations.

Product Expansion

Expansion can be a good option if you add new features to your products. Hence, it can interest more customers in the existing market.

Market Segmentation

Dividing market into various segments based on the customers' preferences, location, or other factors allows you to make more effective targeted campaigns.

Equipping yourself about sales growth is important as you need to monitor the business’s progress. It helps you to choose the most suitable growth strategy to make your business bigger.
Muzaki Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07717184024096976148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728082008190634818.post-38525907163212164952021-08-28T18:19:00.002-07:002021-08-28T20:01:48.596-07:00Being Aware of Social Inequality and How to Reduce It
Many problems which appear in society today might be the result of social inequality. It is easy to discover criminality, unemployment, and abuse in our society. One of the factors that contribute to this phenomenon actually is an unequal distribution of goods.

For instance, it is important to know whether incomes are distributed evenly across the community or not. If not, there are a number of people who have a lack of income which affects their prosperity. This also can increase the number of unemployment as people are not satisfied with their job and choose to leave them.

Definition of Social Inequality

Social Inequality is defined as relational processes in society that cause effects to restrict or harm the social status, class, and circle of a particular group. There are many areas in our daily life that can be affected by inequality including access to health care, education, social services, and freedom of speech.

The inequality of social life might appear due to society's perceptions about gender roles and public stereotypes. This causes adverse effects on society as people will get different opportunities and rewards based on their social status and position.

The inequality that happens in each state can be different as the society's condition varies too. One of the examples of this inequality is when people living in one country think they are better than other people living in other countries which turns them into racists.

There is no country that is free from inequalities. Even small inequalities can be discovered such as when people start to blame the poor are responsible for their condition. They are unemployed since they don’t own the proper skills or educational background that can support them when finding jobs.

Types of Social Inequality

Generally, there are five types of inequalities that happen in society. The unequal condition can be found in several aspects of our life such as follows:

Life Inequality

This inequality addresses the different opportunities receives by each person to improve their quality of life. For instance, children from the poor cannot get access to proper education as they don’t have enough money to pay the tuition fee.

Income and Wealth Inequality

This inequality associate with the outcome or results of earnings of an individual. Some jobs often cannot pay properly the workers so it results in their incapability to achieve better wealth in life.

Political Inequality

It refers to no civic equality in front of the law which causes improper consequences for the wrongdoers. For instance, people with high positions receive mild consequences from citizens even though they have similar law infringement.

Treatment and Responsibility Inequality

Sometimes we can find people that don’t receive proper treatment because of their not prestigious jobs or lack of educational background. It creates processes and procedures in conducting risk management to prevent the activities from interruption, especially if the organization is under critical condition.

Ensuring business continuity should become an ability need to master by organizations, in case they need to maintain vital functions after a catastrophe happens. While keeping the vital functions running, this plan allows organizations to rebuild the whole function as soon and smoothly as possible.

Definition of Business Continuity Plan

Business continuity plan refers to a document that determines how the business will keep operating under unexpected disruptions on its services. This business plan covers insights about business processes, human resources, assets, and other aspects of the business that affect by the disruptions.

The plan usually included a checklist of business supplies and equipment, location backup, and data backup. It comes with contact information that can be reached out during emergency conditions, the main personnel, as well as backup sites providers.

It can be made in a more detailed format by adding the plans for business operations both in the short and long run. The primary components of this continuity plan comprise strategies in handling IT and networks, servers, personal computers, as well as mobile devices.

It needs to state the plans to rebuild the business productivity and enterprise software to fulfill the primary needs of the business. It should include manual works too so the business operations keep running when the computer system is still under maintenance.

There are three main aspects that you need to consider when developing a continuity plan for your business such as follows:

Contiguous Operations

Protect the ability of the business to keep running in a disrupting moment and when the plans go out of track. It might happen during scheduled backups or regular maintenance which affects many activities in the company or office.

High Availability

Present the business capability and processes so it remains to own access to the application despite the failure that affects its normal operations. The failure might happen in different aspects of the business such as the process, facilities, or IT hardware and software.

Disaster Recovery

Formulate methods to recover data centers in different locations if the disaster destroys the main site. Or else, you can render it unworkable.

Purposes of Business Continuity Plan

Making a continuity plan for the business has several main purposes. You can consider these purposes and make a continuity plan based on your business needs during a critical moment

Help in managing the risk while the business is in the middle of recovery from an event that affects its operations negatively.

Help to respond to the disruptions and use them to develop business processes.

Establish an alternative site that is more suitable for recovery.

Focus on the management and mitigation risk during the operation recovery as the results of an event that affects business operation.

Maintain business resiliency to quickly respond to the interruption.

Saving money, time, and business reputation under downtime.

Serve as a requirement for legal or compliance needs.

How to Create Business Continuity Plan

If your business never makes business continuity plan previously, you can start by identifying the business processes. Determine which areas of the business have high potential risk in critical situations. Estimate the potential losses if disruptions occur a day, a week, or a month.

After assessing several important aspects of your business, you need to create plans. The plan typically consists of six primary steps.

Recognize the scope of the continuity plan.

Determine the key business areas.

Categorize the critical functions.

Assessing the dependencies of different business areas with the functions.

Decide acceptable downtime for every critical function.

Develop a plan to maintain operations under disruptions.

You might misinterpret the continuity plan with the disaster recovery plan. It becomes part of a continuity plan. If you haven’t made disaster recovery plan, don’t worry since it includes the making process of continuity plan.

However, if you have made the disaster recovery plan, it doesn’t mean that you can skip making the continuity plan. It is because BC plan covers more aspects than the DR plan. For instance, BC plan includes restoration time to ensure the operations meet business expectations.

Testing the Plan

After you completely create business continuity plan, it is important to test the plan to make sure your plan is working. Although the real disruptions are the true test for the BC plan, checking the plan under controlled testing will help you to make some preventions and improvements to the plans.

BC plan needs to receive a rigorous test to know if it is complete and fulfills the intended purpose of the business. Create the test as challenging as possible to identify which aspects of the plans still needs improvements.

Getting to know the purposes of business continuity plan helps you to create it properly. Doing so makes the business meet the expectation even under unexpected disruptions.
Muzaki Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07717184024096976148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728082008190634818.post-69790779838536952552021-08-22T22:01:00.002-07:002021-08-23T18:06:03.018-07:00Personal Selling Vs Direct Marketing, and Tips to Building Effective Personal Selling
Personal selling is an approach of seller efforts to sell products and develop a relationship with a specific customer. As a result, you can collect valuable clues about what is important to the customer, such as features, price, and customer's wants and needs.

What is Personal Selling?

Personal selling, as the name suggests, is a marketing technique in which the seller seeks to develop relationships with customers and uses communication and negotiation skills to close the sale of a product or service.

Personal Selling Vs Direct Marketing

Personal selling occurs when seller has a conversation with a potential customer. While, direct marketing involves using campaign materials like emails, text messages, flyers, catalogs, letters, and postcards and does not involve interacting directly with customers.

Personal selling requires an oral presentation from the seller to somehow make the sale of the product. At first, the dialogue between seller and the potential customer seems to be an attempt to make the person aware of the product, but the end of the process usually takes the form of a deliberate attempt to close a sale .

Below are the difference between personal selling and direct marketing:

Personal selling is more about offering complex products and services, such as financial software.

Direct marketing is a sales technique that involves a seller selling products or services directly to customer through phone calls, emails, offers in newspapers and magazines, etc.

Direct marketing is more aggressive than personal selling, and its purpose to make customer interested in the information of products or services at first.

Strategies of Personal Selling

Today, businesses are increasingly struggling to be successful and stay competitive. With more competitors, ever more varied communication channels, and ever-refined marketing tools, have become real challenges for industry.

To ensure the sustainability of your company in the medium and long term, you must prepare effective personal selling strategy.

The personal selling process is a seven step approach, namely prospecting, pre-approach, approach, presentation, meeting objections, closing the sale, and follow-up. And this is tips to building a good personal selling strategy.

1. Identify the profile of your typical customer

Rule 80/20 of business, is of ten used to point out that 80% of a business's revenue is generated by only 20% of customers. It is therefore essential to know who this 20% of customers are.

Analyze the profile and behavior of your customers: identify those who spend the most money, loyal customers who have bought your products more than once, or those who use the shortest sales cycle.

In this way, you will be able to establish your customer profile or "target market profile": group of age, professional roles, demographics, desires, and passions.

Once you know your ideal customer, your sales reps will just have to target prospects who match the profile to be more effective and reach more sales.

2. Start a SWOT analysis

To implement an effective sales strategy, you need to know your environment and the strengths and weaknesses of your business by using SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis.

So you can get advantages of your strengths to seize the opportunities. By studying the market, you can identify your competition and become aware of the weaknesses and threats your business may face. So, you can do everything to deal with it.

3. Define your action plan

It's time to take all the information gathered into account and establish the course of action for your business to follow.

This action plan should answer the following questions:

What: what is the goal?

Who: who is your target consumers?

How: how type of action you do to reach the goal?

How much: how much is the allocated budget?

When: when is your schedule?

Be careful, your action plan must be realistic and allocated to your resources and your budget to avoid any failure.

4. Prepare yourself

Just as an athlete prepares before a competition or a soldier prepares for a fight, you and your teams must prepare to ensure the success of your action plan and the effectiveness of your business strategy:

Equip yourself with the right marketing tools to be efficient and save time. For example, CRM or Customer Relation Management.

Training: train your sales representatives to use different sales techniques and marketing tools.

The action test: are you implementing new actions? Before going for it, don't hesitate to test them on a small sample of prospects to see their effectiveness and make adjustments if necessary.

5. Keep track of your actions

After launching your action plan, please pay attention and keep an eye on the results. Make sure everything is going according to plan and that your business strategy is working.

To do this, interact with your teams, listen to your customers and prospects, and set up monitoring tools and indicators. Finally, make the necessary adjustments when the results obtained do not meet your expectations.

Conclusion

A marketing strategy, including personal selling, requires a good preparation and also follow-up. Teamwork between the team of product, sales, and marketing is also essential. These steps help you build an effective sales strategy to achieve your goals and grow your business. It's your turn!

With personal selling, it's important to stick to the boundaries set by each customer. Some customers are very open to a pleasant approach that is almost like talking to a friend. Others prefer an open and honest approach, but that's a bit more formal.

Exceeding these limits, even in any way, such as calling a customer by their first name when they prefer to be called Mr. or Mrs., it can be weaken the building of a personal sales link and thus limit the opportunity to sell.
Muzaki Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07717184024096976148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728082008190634818.post-61596822235955517302021-08-21T21:31:00.002-07:002021-08-21T21:32:38.769-07:00Above the Line (ATL) Vs Below the Line (BTL) Marketing
Two common marketing strategies used in the advertising industry to promote a product or brand are: Aboe the Line (ATL) and Below the Line (BTL).

Literally "above the line ", ATL uses mass media involving the services of marketing agencies to reach more people such as TV, magazines, newspaper and radio advertising. Whereas, BTL refers to spending offline media and includes the actions of direct marketing and sales promotion, alternative advertising campaigns (such as discount, exhibitions, and events) as well as press relations, public relations.

Above the Line (ATL) vs Below the Line (BTL)

ATL and BTL are the marketing strategies used by companies to promote their products. Many times, these phrases like ATL and BTL are enough to confuse for who have just joined the industry. Communication with customers is a process that is taken up by businesses at all levels when dealing with customers of all etnichs, ages, and genders.

If you also cannot distinguish the differences between ATL and BTL marketing, let's read this article!

What's Above the Line (ATL) Marketing?

ATL refers to all promotional activities carried out through the mass media: press, television, posters, radio, cinema, and internet. This marketing method focuses on using mass media, it creates brand awareness and has no contact directly with consumers.

ATL marketing can increase brand image and makes the brand known by customers or to boosts sales by providing them with various promotional schemes and offers.

What is Below the Line (BTL) Marketing?

BTL marketing is a direct marketing activity to consumers so they are interested to purchase immadiately, all the more effective and profitable as it targets to end users or a small and specific group.

BTL usually is allocated for almost 2/3 of annual budgets of marketing, but this proportion varies greatly between sectors and can reach 80% for business to business (B to B).

The pros of BTL marketing is BTL can be easily measured; that is, they are quantifiable. Distributing flyers near the point of sale, organizing public relations events, and engaging in unconventional methods of promotion are some of the popular methods reflecting BTL.

So, what is the main difference of ATL and BTL?

Communication with customers using mass media to promote products and create brand awareness is above the line (ATL) marketing strategy. ATL is used when mass media is deployed to increase a brand-image and reach maximum consumers.

On the other hand, trying to achieve the same results without using mass media in the form of public relations and point-of-sale sales promotion is referred to below the line (BTL) marketing strategy. BTL is a kind of one-on-one communication, in which different techniques are used to reach a specific group of people.

Key differences between ATL and BTL marketing

The points below are to be noted regarding the difference between ATL and BTL marketing:

Above the Line (ATL) marketing is massive campaigns to increase brand awareness and brand-image. Whereas, BTL is targeted towards the individual, which is used to initiate direct interaction with a particular group.

ATL marketing involves the use of primary media such as television, radio, print media, the Internet, etc. to promote a brand and create awareness among the public. In contrast, BTL marketing activities use media such as mailings, telemarketing, referrals, etc. that target a specific audience.

ATL involves when the target audience is huge or marketing campaign is for a large number of audiences. While, BTL marketing is used when audience belongs to target specific place or specific small group.

The above-the-line advertising methods are useful when the goal is to create brand awareness, while the below-the-line method is used to improve engagement with customers/potential customers.

In terms of cost, ATL marketing material is comparatively more expensive than BTL marketing material.

When the business uses ATL marketing, it is difficult to measure impacts of campaigns and how much the sale has increased as a result of the campaign. On the contrary, with BTL advertising, can measure the results of the campaign.

ATL marketing is a one-way communication, occuring a message is targeted to the audience. While, BTL marketing is a two-way communication between the industry and consumer, which helps to build costumer loyalty.

In conclusion

Today, supporting by digital technology it changes the game and shifting the line between ATL and BTL has widened. It means some activities contain characteristis of ATL and as well as BTL. And it more and more towards targeted, personalized, connected, measurable campaigns.

Increasingly these limits refractive make their new term in the world of marketing advertising, which is TTL (Through The Line). Of course, strategy mix of ATL and BTL marketing has been essential to drive sales and build brand awareness.
Muzaki Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07717184024096976148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728082008190634818.post-11012858219520793482020-06-02T19:37:00.001-07:002021-08-21T17:37:27.999-07:00Farm Implements – Getting the Basic Knowledge about ThemWhen we are talking about farm implements, we are referring to the tools used in your farms. These tools can be either mounted to the machineries or pulled by animals. Some of the most common farm implements include harrow (whose function is to pulverize and till the soil), plows (whose function is to make furrows, tile big areas, or inter the row cultivation), or rotavator (whose function is to till and pulverize the soil).

There are so many different implements out there. Before buying one, you need to know the basic functions and the perks to enjoy from each of them. After all, these tools can be costly – you don’t want to spend money for nothing.

The Main Types of Farm Implements

Modern farming has made it possible for farmers to manage a wide and big area, even single-handedly. As long as you can use the modern machines and tools, you are good to go.

It’s a good thing that developments of modern farming tools and machineries have made it possible for farmers to focus on their field. However, before you spend a fortune for those farm implements, it doesn’t hurt to know what their categories are.

The five main categories are managed in their functions and usage, such as:

Soil cultivation implements. The tools are generally used to prepare the soil (and plow it) for cultivation. The most common examples are power harrow parts, drag, spike, mouldboard plows, disk harrows, and tillers. They are also coming in different varieties.

Irrigation machinery. As the name suggests, these tools will help the crops stay watered within the appropriate level, especially during summer. It includes pump units or the irrigation central pivot system.

Harvesting implements. These tools are designed to collect the crops when they have reached complete maturity. The tools include diggers, pickers, and trailers.

Planting machines. They are made to plant seeds and saplings on the land – done after the soil had been prepared and cultivated. They include air seeders, seed drills, broadcast seeders, precision drills, and also transplanting equipment.

Miscellaneous agricultural tools. They are generally designed for corollary agricultural actions, like loading, shredding, and hay-making.

Farm Implements Tips

There are several handy tips (in terms of care and safety) for the farm implements. They are:

Always read the manual. If you want to be able to operate the implements safely, make sure that you read the manual. Even if you already have a tractor, for instance, it doesn’t mean that the new one would have the same operation as the old one. Don’t be a know-it-all. If you want to have a safe operation, always consult the manual.

If you have certain operators to operate the machines, make sure that they have a proper training. It means that they need to have an updated knowledge about the operation and maintenance of the machine. Don’t let anyone who is completely clueless about the machines to operate the machines. Not only it would be dangerous for the operators and the people around the farm, but it will also affect the machines and their performances.

Always lubricate the machines. Don’t underestimate the terms ‘tools’ of the machines. Farm implements are still heavy machines that can cost a fortune – or cost a life. That’s why proper maintenance is crucial, and lubricating them can help a lot. Lubricants would reduce the friction, resulting in life expectancy enhancement. Not only you need to lubricate them, but you also need to use the good quality lubricants. Don’t forget to always clean and clear up the mess and dirt before adding the new lubricant.

Maintain situational awareness whenever you operate the machines – or whenever you let anyone operate them. Don’t drink alcohol. Make sure that you have enough rest too.

A small garden isn’t a reason for not growing or planting. After all, you need some greeneries at home – and what’s better than having your veggie garden that helps you produce things you like to eat?

Important Things to Remember

Before we get to the lists of the best small garden vegetables, you need to have these crucial things in mind – even before you start planting.

You need to plant something that you like to consume. What’s the point of growing broccoli if you hate it? What’s the use?

Choose the varieties that are generally costly in the market. In my area, broccoli and onions are quite expensive – I always have to spend extra to buy them. Think of the stuff that requires you to spend extra and plant them. You can seriously save a lot of money!

Choose something that will keep producing or growing, even after you have picked or harvested them. Things like peas or beans can be handy.

The Recommended Veggies Options

It would be great if you can choose vertical plants for small space. But in case you choose root plants or other plants that grow expansively, then it’s okay. Here are some of your options for the best small garden vegetables.

1. Lemons

You can always grow them in your backyard or a small planter. This is especially perfect if you live in a warm-climate area. If you have tons of light, you can even plant the trees. Such thing as Meyers lemon trees can also be planted indoor. Just make sure that the soil stays moist and the trees receive direct sunlight – at least getting the plenty of light for 8 hours each day.

2. Tomatoes

4. Squash

Squash via Pixabay.com

As one of the best small garden vegetables, squash is nice and beneficial. However, if you don’t manage it well, the squash will dominate and take over the garden – every inch of it. That’s why it is advisable to grow the squash vertically, so it will grow nicely. It should be able to produce a lot of harvest without creating a havoc in the small garden.

5. Herbs

One of herbs, parsley, Via Pixabay.com

Indeed you won’t be able to survive completely on herbs only. However, if you want to produce tasty and palatable dishes, herbs should be included in your small garden. Growing herbs isn’t complicated or difficult at all. It is one of the easiest. You can grow them outdoor, starting from spring to autumn. Or you can have them indoor during the winter.

So, what kinds of herbs that you should grow? Again, it goes back to your personal preferences (consult the section of Important Things to Remember). Grow things that you like. Basil is a common herb that is not complicated to grow. Cilantro, parsley, or chives are also great options for your herb garden.

6. Shallots and Garlic

They are parts of onion (Allium) family. Growing shallot, for a starter, is pretty easy. You only need to plant an immature bulb into the soil and it will produce 5 to 6 shallots. They can be quite pricey at shops. They can store well in winter too. in short, shallots are quite convenient and even fun to grow. You can start seed it in the early January to April, and the harvest would be ready in the late summer.

Garlic has the same planting easiness as the shallots. You only need to plant a clove and it should grow into one whole bulb. You can also store garlic pretty well and easily. You can plant it in winter or autumn, or even in the beginning of spring time. And then the harvest would be ready by late summer.

7. Eggplant

This compact tractor looks cute, but it can deliver superb performance. It is a multitasking machine that isn’t only powerful but also easy to operate and control. You can even upgrade it with cabs (with AC and heated room) for extra comfort. But even if you don’t do it, you can be sure that operating this machine is super convenient and easy.

Those are just several examples that you can seriously consider for your needs. There are still other best compact tractors out there – you just need to choose the right one for you!

Understanding Planting Calendar

As the name suggests, a planting calendar is basically a guide telling you of the best time to start planting. Most of these calendars are based on the frost time or frost dates. They would give you the information of when you should start with the seeds – including when to plant outdoors. And as for the vegetable planting calendar, you will have the guidance of knowing how to start to seed – both outdoors and indoors – and when to manage the young plants outdoor.

Basic Planting

You see, you will have to start indoor seeds so the crops can get a head start (of the growing season) as well as giving it the opportunity to grow in a controlled and stable environment. But you will have to move the crops outdoor. How soon you should do it would depend on the types of the plants.

Why not starting outdoor, then? The weather and temperature uncertainty may not be a good starting point for the seeds. The unpredictable sunlight, low and high temperature, drought, rain, diseases, and pests can seriously affect the plants. That’s why you want to start indoor and then move everything outdoor – your harvest can be greater and better.

Although most seeds can be started inside the room, some have better chances of growing outdoor. Root veggies, for example, should be started outdoors. The vegetable planting calendar can help you starting off and decide how fast you should begin. Your growing season and climate will determine how you should start the seed. For instance, in cool areas where the growing seasons are short, knowing which plants to start indoor can give you a good head start. On the other hand, in warm areas with longer (growing) season, you won’t need to start the seed indoor as you can always start them outdoor.

Consulting the Planting Calendar

There are many websites that can help you with the planning. There are even calendars with different zones and areas. For instance, in Oregon planting calendar, the zone is divided into zone 5 to 9. Depending on your areas, you can consult the time-table for the planting. Let’s say that you live in zone 7 and you want to plant carrots, tomato, and corn. Based on the calendar, you can start seed the carrot in the beginning of March to the middle of June. And then start again in the beginning of August to the end of October. You can start seed the corn in the beginning of May to the end of August. For tomato, you can start from the beginning of March to the end of September.
Vertical farming is the new agricultural method believed to provide solution to food shortage. The vertical farming method may seem strange or unusual, but it can help to produce food where the land is rare or unavailable.

The Benefits

Besides the benefits to limited or rare land, vertical farming can also be advantageous in challenging and difficult environments, like cities, mountainside areas, or deserts. Since the method must be done in a closed premise, it would be efficient to grow fruits, veggies, and other crops by using the skyscraper-like construction and precise agriculture methods.

The farming isn’t exposed to the harsh sunray – and it doesn’t take a lot of water too. With this method, you will reduce water usage to 70%. And you can also save soil and space. There are also some types of vertical farming that you can do by your own (yes, you can implement the way at home) and there are some ways that are growing for the future.

Different Vertical Farming Types

Here are some of the most common and also most popular types of vertical farming methods to try:

1. Hydroponics

This is a method where you can grow plants without soil. The plant roots would be submerged in solution (of nutrients). The plants are monitored to make sure that correct chemical composition is well maintained and delivered.

2. Aeroponics

This is almost the same as previous method. However, this one doesn’t require any soil but it needs very little water that is the most efficient plant-growing system for vertical farms. The method was originally created by NASA – they wanted to create a way to grow plants in space. Then aeroponics was created where it is possible to grow plants in mist or air environment with little water and no soil.

With an aeroponics system, plants can be grown in the chamber and transplanted only 10 days later, shown to uptake more minerals and vitamins, making the plants healthier and potentially more nutritious.

3. Aquaponics

This method implements a way where it is possible to do fish farming and grow plants altogether. Basically, the fish grow is done in the indoor environment where the fish produces waste (that is nutrient rich) and it becomes the food source for the plants. Then, the plants would filter and purify the waste (water) and then directly recycled in the ponds.

Some Innovations

There are some companies that have implemented different farming methods with vertical farming basis. There are some names that have achieved success and positive outcome in implementing safe ecological system.

Space 10. They are incorporating the idea, Lokal, with advanced hydroponics system. Basically, they are using stackable trays and also LED to grow the garden. As a result, the plants grow 3 times faster with this method. Later, they are putting sensors into the trays so the farmers can check through their smartphones.

Aerofarms. Whereas Space 10 is still planning the sensors installation into the growing trays, Aerofarms have done a step further. They have done a smart vertical farming with the sensors. They can grow plants without the sun or soil. They have also implemented smart pest management, smart scaling, smart data, smart aeroponics, smart substrate, and smart nutrition.

Those are the popular types of vertical farming that can affect the future and also the way of us producing foods.

About Agriculture 4.0

The farming industry is growing and trying to catch up as technology has changed the world. With automated farm machinery and equipment as well as IoT sensors that can measure soil moisture is a part of the technology. And let’s not forget about the usages of drones that can be used to collect data and track the crops have completely transformed the sector.

More people believe that digital farm is somewhat more sustainable and efficient, especially when compared to the traditional one. The idea of self-driving tractors, precision agriculture for the crops, and harvest that can be determined is nice and fun.

There are some works that have done with the respect to Industry 4.0 in Agriculture focus:

Indoor Farms are implementing vertical racks in a huge indoor facility. This can be found at Jones Food in Europe or Plenty in San Francisco. This type of farming can reduce carbon footprint that is often needed to grow the food.

Purdue University (West Lafayette) has ACRE (Agronomy Center for Research and Education) that continuously assessing and finding better systems to farm in order to improve efficiency and increase yields. They implement sensors to collect 1.4 petabytes of data on a daily basis.

Those are just some examples of the innovation that has been going on in the agriculture sector. It is predicted that the world would be populated by 9 billion people by 2050, so it is super crucial and essential to find smarter and better way to grow food.

Sensors have been widely used in the agricultural sector and these sensors have helped scientists to understand many elements better. Big data is related to collecting data, visualizing, analyzing, modeling, and such things alike. Through the sensors, much information can be collected, and it leads to a more precise way to manage the farms.

Scientists have tried to develop automation machines but right now, they depend on manned vehicle to collect the data. The man responsible for driving the vehicle will be holding the device with internet connection so the device can collect data and then send it to the processing resources. This alone has been more effective than the traditional farming system. Imagine how effective and effortless it will be when everything can be integrated with wireless system and automatic technologies. No more traditional work that is longer, costlier, and more ineffective.

The Challenges

Not everyone understands the role of technology and how it can efficiently be a positive game changer. Precision agriculture is the future and the next Industry 4.0 in Agriculture focus, but not everyone is able to accept such a thing. Most traditional people don’t like the new technology because the new system is different from the one they have already known, understood, and practiced. Not to mention that most farmers think that the new technology is costlier, but it can actually save them up to $20 per acre on a long term. Imagine how much money can be saved when a single farmer has to manage thousands of acres.

Final Words

Farmers need to start growing a new realization that smart farming, digital farming, or precision farming is the new future of the agriculture sector. Technologies may be the next important aspect in the agriculture sector, but it is the human resource that becomes the main Industry 4.0 in Agriculture focus and concern.Muzaki Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07717184024096976148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728082008190634818.post-72371238309145223702019-11-24T01:07:00.000-08:002019-11-24T01:07:07.083-08:00The Many Aspects of Agriculture Drones in Industrial Revolution 4.0 Farmers have started to realize the importance of agriculture drones in Industrial Revolution 4.0 as they can’t handle the increasing demands with manual work only. Drones were originally built for military usages and purposes. But now their functions have expanded greatly. Not only used in military, drones are also used in entertainment as well as agriculture. In fact, agriculture has been the second biggest industry that use drones in their daily operation – the first one is the construction.

Why the Drones in Agriculture?

This is the main question when people start wondering about the usage of drones. Well, drones increase the efficiency and easiness in managing the farm. In Industrial Revolution 4.0, precision farming has become the focus. And drones are able to help achieve such a focus. They help farmers cope with various obstacles and challenges. No more uncertainty – no more guessing. With drones, addressing possible problems will be easier. Not to mention that the drones also help farmers to adapt and adjust to the field condition.

The Functions of Drones

So, what is the function of drones in agriculture? Well, the technology enables the agriculture drones in Industrial Revolution 4.0 to capture and get more accurate information. And it can be done easier and cheaper than the satellites and airplanes. The drones are usually connected to agritech app that can collect data, process it, and deliver it in understandable format.

The drone technology generally includes these logical steps:

To indicate flight parameters. It can be used to outline and evaluate the monitored area as well as uploading the GPS information to the (drone) navigation system.

To enable autonomous flights. The drone would carry out a flight pattern according to the already established parameters. It will then collect the required and important data.

To upload data. The drone will then submit the data for further analysis and processing

To gain information output. After data is processed, it would be sent to farmers in understandable format. The report has crucial info that is important for making better decisions related to farm management.

The Benefits of Agriculture Drones

When everything is considered crucial or important, it means that they can deliver some benefits to the users. And the role agriculture drones in Industrial Revolution 4.0 isn’t different. So what are the benefits?

To estimate the soil condition. When farming management is based on data, accurate and precise actions can be made. Farmers are able to decide what to do when they get accurate info about the soil condition. The problem with traditional farming system is that it requires rigorous physical visit and exploration to the field. With drones (and their sensors), they can collect and produce data in a faster, more efficient, and more precise manner.

To plant future crops. Do you know that drones can also be used to shoot seeds? This method is faster and effortless. No more unnecessary manual labor that can save you time, energy, and also money.

To fight pests and infections. Drones can be used to detect fields that are affected by pests, infections, and weeds. They can then deliver the data so farmers can decide their next move. What kinds of solutions will they do? How much chemicals are needed to fight the infestation?

Those are some benefits of agricultural drones that you can gain from the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). Feel free to find more once you have done your research.

The Considerations

There are several things to consider when you want to have the drones. First of all, you need to determine your goals. There are different farming activities to do, so which drone to use for a specific task? Second, you need to understand the law. Find out whether drones are legal in your areas. Do you have to register it? What are the security instructions to know when flying the drones?

Be sure to understand this concept thoroughly before you can implement agriculture drones in Industrial Revolution 4.0.Muzaki Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07717184024096976148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728082008190634818.post-36677575293987719352019-11-18T01:18:00.000-08:002019-11-18T01:18:45.914-08:00Types of Tractor and Agricultural Insurance: Which One for You?You may want to know the types of tractor and agricultural insurance if you want to dwell more into the sector. Important Aspects

You need to remember that being a farmer means that you will be the main producer that is responsible for everything. It is not an easy task but it is actually manageable if you know how to arrange everything. As the main producer, you will have to deal with many unpredictable factors and elements. You need to be prepared for damage, property loss, demand downturn, harvest impairment, fluctuation, market price, and weather. Insurance can reduce and eliminate some of the most severe problems that may happen to the producers.
Important Coverage

When it comes to types of tractor and agricultural insurance, there are some crucial types to cover, such as:

Farm property. You need to protect your equipment and buildings from damage or loss. After all, it is super important to the ongoing operation of the farm. In some agents, the coverage is more than equipment and buildings cover as it also protects the family home.

Liability. It will protect you against claims for personal damage or injury to the property because of your farming operation. It includes produce sold or contract farming activities from the farm.

Farm machinery. Keep in mind that machinery is expensive. Damage or loss will result in significant economic condition.

Tailor Your Insurance Needs

When we are talking about farming machines, there are many heavy and expensive machines to think about, such as balers, sprayers, loaders, skid steers, combines, tractors, and so much more.
Tractor Insurance

For tractor insurance, there are 3 main levels:

TPO (Third Party Only) that doesn’t cover damage or loss to your tractor, but it protects you against people making claims on you.

TPFT (Third Party Fire and Theft) that includes claim from the third parties. It also includes the claim for your vehicle loss and damage claims as the result of theft or fire

Comprehensive cover that includes everything under TPFT for your vehicle in the event of loss or damage to vandalism or vandalism

The insurance covers the tractors, accessories, and also trailers – even include vintage tractors. You also need to differentiate agriculture vehicle insurance and agricultural insurance. In agricultural insurance, it covers all kinds of grain in-storage, crops, and other kinds of agricultural produce. In agricultural vehicle insurance it covers the vehicles you use in agriculture, such as combine harvesters and tractors.
Vertical farming is the concept where food can be grown and produced in a soil-less, waterless, and sun-less environment. Unlike the regular farming method that requires land (a lot of them) and also a lot of water, vertical farming doesn’t need all of those. In fact, the plants can be grown inside a building by manipulating the environment to produce the desired result.
The world is aging and our Earth is always struggling with climate change (dealing with temperature changes, flood, and drought) as well as feeding the growing population. The regular outdoor farming system won’t be able to keep up because the land is getting rare and scarce. With the vertical farming system, it is possible to grow plants without soil. Thanks to this system, it is possible to perform indoor farming and let it go vertical.

Constructing the Building

As it was mentioned before, vertical farming doesn’t need any land or soil because it is grown in a building. In fact, the construction is quite different from high-rise constructions. If it is done in big-scale industries, the people would use automatic procedures and robots to deliver high-density outcome with reduced resource consumption and shorter growth cycle. The automatic systems would control and monitor air circulation, nutrients, lighting controls, temperature, and water cycles.

There are some of the installed common features in interior vertical farming building:

Climate controls

LED lights

Stacked plant racks

Automation technology

Aquaponics (or the water system)

Aeroponics (or the spray system)

What challenges does indoor farming face

These are the crucial features that need be installed in the building if you want a fruitful result. LED lights, for instance, are important to replace the sunrays. Stacked plant racks are crucial to replace the soil – and they act as the bed for the grow. Climate control is crucial because you want to be sure that all the plants get the proper (and right) treatment, temperature, and so much more.

Common Considerations

The construction of vertical farming structure is unique. That’s why there are several crucial elements to consider. For instance, the method focuses mostly on the hydroponic system because it will remove the extra overall weight – when compared to the inhouse soil bed. Because of the hydroponic system, they depend on PVC pipes that have drilled holes on the top and with space. The pipe can also act as the distribution system carrying nutrient-enhanced water.

The choice of material is crucial, such as the steel. It is solid and tough and it is long lasting. When it is coated with corrosion-resistant material, it can be even tougher and stronger. Canopy roof with grates is often the main choice because it supports better air circulation without compromising the main construction itself.

Whatever design and construction of the interior vertical farming building is, it is crucial to have these elements in the building, such as:

Gravity beams and gerders

Columns

Diaphgram

Roof canopy

Wind and seismic

Foundations

Lateral system

Some Successful Stories

Some companies have dedicated themselves in the eco-friendly setting by focusing on the vertical farming technology and method. Aerofarm in the New Jersey based company that is designed to be the biggest indoor vertical farm in the world. They have developed a 69,000 square feet construction with the potential of producing foods up to 2 million pounds a year. With the technology and the special construction of interior vertical farming building, they can use less water up to 95% along with temperature and pH balance optimization that is ideal for the growing environment.Muzaki Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07717184024096976148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728082008190634818.post-69255432844276305502019-11-14T17:54:00.000-08:002019-11-14T17:54:56.474-08:00Urban Vertical Farming Building Elements And DesignsWith the growing limited numbers of land, more scientists are thinking about implementing and constructing urban vertical farming building to grow foods. Vertical farming itself is a concept where foods can be produced in the (vertical) stacked layers, inclined surfaces, or integrated in other constructions (like used shipping container, used warehouse, or skyscraper) with the minimum water, soil, and even sunray. Naturally, to have such a successful outcome, it takes a special construction or building to accommodate the farming system. And with this method, it is possible to grow food in the city within the controlled environment of the urban (vertical) farm building.

The Technology and the Concept

Vertical farming is possible when indoor farming technique is used. In most cases, it uses hydroponics system within CEA (Controlled Environment Agriculture) technology. It means that many of the environmental factors are controllable. The facilities of urban vertical farming building use environmental control (temperature, humidity, gases, etc), light artificial control, and also fertigation. In some cases, the facilities use the same techniques as the greenhouses, such as reflectors, artificial lighting (by using LED), and the zero usage of pesticides or herbicides.

The Possible Constructions

Now that we already know about the basic concept of vertical farming and the possibility to grow foods in the urban setting, let’s dwell into the possible options of construction and design. For a starter, it is possible nowadays to use tall buildings for the farming. With the vertical stacked idea, growing plants would be made easier and more efficient. Some companies have even implemented this idea with indoor farming idea – even developing it to a bigger idea of a creating a building with its own food source for the occupants.

Growing foods on rooftops is also possible, especially in the urban setting. When people grow the foods on terraces and rooftops, they are basically making use of the available space for bigger solar exposure. And with the vertical construction, providing the food source would be possible and sufficient.

The common construction for the urban vertical farming building is to include its own nutrient and watering monitoring system. If there are different floors or levels, then each level should have its own (watering and nutrient) monitoring system. Each plant has its own sensor to track down the types of nutrients being absorbed as well as how much it is. In the advanced system, each plant has a DNA chip technology to monitor the plant diseases. The chip will sample the air to detect plant pathogen’s presence. Moreover, the gas chromatograph would provide an information the right time to pick the plant up as well as analyzing the flavenoids of each plant.

Different Construction Designs

It is a good thing that there are possible designs for the building, such as:

Mixed-use skyscraper. Such a design is used to maximize climate control – usually aimed for community or personal use.

Stackable (recycled) shipping containers. The containers act as the modular environment growing chambers that are designed in stacks. The stacking action would deliver higher density field per square foot.

Abandoned mine shaft. It is more like a deep farming instead of the vertical farming. It doesn’t need any urban vertical farming building but it only makes use of the abandoned mine that isn’t far from the groundwater.

By learning from urban vertical farming building designs above, you get more ideas how to design vertical farming buildings whether for self-sufficient or business. It seems that a vertical farming design is more complicated than the ordinary methods, but don't worry - you can discuss about the concepts of artificial lighting and other facilities with farm architect.
